Men are not nice guys

Hidey hi...I am back after a nice week's break from work spent showing my sister all of the lovely sights of Canberra, amidst her complaints of "it's so cold here!!" (OK, so it was 2 degrees, raining and blowing a gale at 5pm yesterday...but really, that's no cause for complaint...soft Perth people, I dunno!)

We did lots of touristy things around Canberra:
- a tour of the War Memorial (which is pretty amazing and incredibly sad - did you know that 10 million people died in WW1, and 50 million in WW2??! I'm on the lookout for a good book on WW2 now - interested in all the politics that led up to the war)
- a ski trip to Perisher Blue! More about that later...
- a sunny day at Bateman's Bay - the first time I've seen the sea in months! And it was 10 degrees warmer than Canberra - bee-yew-tee-ful!
- a tour of Parliament House, and we sat in on Question Time yesterday. Was kinda cool to see all the pollies in action - Mark Latham was giving Johnny a hard time about the Free Trade Agreement and whether the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme is going to suffer because of it. And in response, Johnny accused the opposition of not being able to make up their mind about the FTA and whether it's good for Oz. Big Kim Beazley was welcomed back to the front bench also - he's recently been appointed Shadow Minister for Defence and was looking pretty comfy back in the front line.

Thanks to my sis for visiting and putting up with the shocking weather, and with me...and happy birthday wishes to her! (she's a big 35 today!)

[If you're wondering about the title of the post - there's no story behind it except that I heard the song on the way to work this morning, and it's been stuck in my head ever since...and, of course, it is always a valid comment:)]
